  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in a standard cooling system on 2008 Cadillac STS?
    A: To replace the condenser in a standard cooling system, first collect the refrigerant with the use of the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A). Lift and prop up the vehicle, then take out the front air deflector retainers and the front air deflector. Then, remove the lower air baffle push pin retainers, the condenser upper bracket bolts as well as the condenser lower mounting bolts. Take off the discharge line bolt and separate discharge line from the condenser, hence dispose off O-ring. Then, unbolt the condenser tube and detach the condenser tube from the condenser, discarding the O-ring too. Detach power steering cooler line to condenser retaining bolts, and remove the condenser. When installing a new condenser, pour the specified amount of PAG oil right into it. Attach the new condenser and the power steering cooler line to the condenser retaining bolts and tighten down to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Hook up a new O-ring to the condenser tube and connect it to the condenser attaching the bolt to the condenser tube as well screwing it tight at 9 N.m (80 lb in). Change the new O ring to the discharge line and link it to the condenser, and attach the discharge line bolt which has been tightened to the level of 9N.m (80 lb in). Install the condenser lower mounting bolts and tighten them to 5.4 N.m (48 lb in), while following the installation of the condenser upper bracket bolts and tighten to 5.4 N.m (48 l lb in). Replace the lower air baffle push pin retainers, front air deflector, and front air deflector retainers. Lower and mount the power steering cooler bolts. Finally, evacuate and recharge the A/C system and conduct a leak test on the fittings of the component with the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
