• Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in a standard cooling system on 2007 Cadillac STS?

  A: To replace the condenser in a standard cooling system, first and foremost, you have to use the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) to check the fittings, after the installation is complete, for any leaking. Start by recovering the refrigerant and then do some lifting and supporting of the vehicle. Push the front air deflector retainers and remove the front air deflector and lower air baffle push pin retainers. Then remove the condenser upper bracket bolts and the lower mounting bolts and disconnect the discharge line bolt and disconnect the discharge line from the condenser discarding the O-ring. Do not forget to pull out the condenser tube bolt to disconnect the condenser tube from the condenser and throw away the O-ring as well. Pull the power steering cooler line to condenser retaining bolts, remove the condenser. When installing new condenser, add the stated PAG oil right into it. Install the new condenser and attach the power steering cooler line to condenser retaining bolts, applying them to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Replace the new O-ring to the condenser tube and tie it on the condenser and fasten with condenser tube bolt and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Mount a fresh O-ring onto the discharge line, join to the condenser, and tighten the bolt for the discharge line to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Finally, install the lower mounting bolts of the condenser and tighten them to 5.4 N.m (48 lb in), then install the upper bracket bolts with the same torque. Replace the lower air baffle push pin retainers, the front air deflector, and the front air deflector retainers. Lower the vehicle, install the power steering cooler mounting bolts and then evacuate and recharge your A/C system.
