• Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in a standard cooling system on 2006 Cadillac STS?

  A: The process starts with refrigerant recovery and vehicle elevation and support before replacing a standard cooling system's condenser. To start the condenser replacement begin with retainer removal of the front air deflector and the front air deflector alongside lower air baffle push pin retainers. Start by removing condenser upper bracket bolts followed by lower mounting bolts and finally disconnecting the discharge line from the condenser after taking out the discharge line bolt. Throw away both O-rings. First disconnect the condenser tube from the condenser by removing the tube bolt then throw away both the O-ring components. Detach the power steering cooler line to condenser retaining bolts to remove the condenser. Before installing a new condenser add specified amount of PAG oil directly to it. Fit the new condenser into place while securing the power steering cooler line to the condenser retaining bolts with hand torque of 9 N.m (80 lb in). Install a new O-ring to the condenser tube before attaching it to the condenser and using a condenser tube bolt with a torque of 9 N.m (80 lb in). Use a new O-ring to connect the condenser to the discharge line then fasten it with a discharge line bolt that you should tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Begin by installing the lower condenser mounting bolts at 5.4 N.m (48 lb in) torque followed by applying 5.4 N.m (48 lb in) torque to the upper condenser bracket bolts. Replace all lower air baffle push pin retainers, follow with the front air deflector and its corresponding retainers. Lower the vehicle before moving to install the power steering cooler mounting bolts. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system with a leak test conducted using Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
