  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2008 Cadillac STS?
    A: Engine maintenance starts by removing the splash shield and later removing the front engine cover. When replacing the Oil Pan start by removing the Engine Mount lower nuts while keeping the a/c pipes and hoses in place. Before moving on the A/C Compressor bracket bolts must be taken off and the bracket should be placed to the side. Begin by draining engine oil followed by removal of the transmission oil cooler pipe retainer at the engine's left side. First remove the bolt securing the radiator outlet hose bracket then take off the radiator outlet hose bracket. Place the engine support fixture before tightening its wing nuts to establish suitable Oil Pan clearance. Front differential carrier removal follows when present. Take out the Oil Pan while you clean and inspect it for necessary disassembly. Before pan assembly install the sections as required before putting it in place. Reinstall the front differential carrier when it exists. You should start by loosening the support fixture wing nuts on the engine support fixture so the engine lowers down. After that you need to connect the engine mounts to the frame. Place the radiator outlet hose bracket then tighten the radiator outlet hose bracket bolt to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Remove the transmission oil cooler pipe retainer from the engine's left side after you have removed the engine support fixture. Put new engine oil in the engine while installing the A/C Compressor bracket and A/C Compressor together. Finish the installation with Engine Mount lower nuts followed by the engine front cover installation and completion with the engine splash shield.
