2008 Chevrolet Aveo Front Cross-Member Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Front Cross-Member on 2008 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: To replace the front suspension crossmember, lift and support the vehicle first. Take out the front tire and wheel assemblies, pull apart the joint ball joint of the Control Arm and the link nut of the stabilizer shaft, low down and the ball joint of tie rod end. Secondly, take out the engine mounting reaction rod bolts and drain the power steering fluid before removing the power steering pipe fittings as well as the intermediate bottom lower joint. Care must be exercised to support the crossmember so that it does not drop when the mounting bolts are undone. Privately, eliminate the crossmember assembly and remove the stabilizer bar, power steering gear set, as well as Control Arm from the crossmember. In the installation, start by installing the stabilizer bar, the power steering gear set, and the Control Arm to the crossmember. Install the crossmember assembly front to body nut and rear to body bolt in turn holding them together with the torque of 150 n.m (111 lb ft). Join the intermediate shaft lower joint and power steering pipe fittings and tighten the latter to 22 n.m (16 lb ft). Mount the engine mounting reaction rod bolts using 60 n.m (44 lb ft) and the tie rod end ball joint nut at 45 n.m (33 lb ft). Finally, install the Control Arm ball joint and stabilizer shaft link nut and lower, reattach the front tire and wheel assemblies and lowering the vehicle.
