2008 Chevrolet Cobalt Clutch Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Clutch Master Cylinder (MU3) on 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: Begin Clutch Master Cylinder (MU3) removal by removing the clutch pedal retainer from its position at the clutch pedal assembly front then pulling the pedal upward to separate the Pushrod from the pedal. Place a shop towel beneath the Clutch Master Cylinder before separating the ubec. Remove the Clutch Hose and clutch line from the Clutch Master Cylinder before capping both reservoir and hydraulic lines to stop fluid loss and contamination. The Clutch Master Cylinder needs its rotation set to 1/4 turn clockwise before the mechanic can remove it from the vehicle. To install the Clutch Master Cylinder keep the Pushrod properly aligned with the clutch pedal before rotating it 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Reattach the Clutch Hose and clutch line to the Clutch Master Cylinder before reattaching the reservoir cap and hydraulic lines. Install the ubec and position the Pushrod properly on the clutch pedal. Neatly reassemble the clutch pedal retainer. The next procedure requires attachment of the Pushrod to the clutch pedal followed by the clutch pedal retainer and completed with clutch hydraulic bleeding.
