Next, remove the cmp sensor. Turn the Crankshaft towards the right while observing until the #1 piston reaches top dead center compression position. The reference point for timing chain link identification will be the exhaust camshaft position actuator sprocket timing mark. First install the camshaft holding tool (J 44221) to the camshaft rear before installing the timing chain retention tool (J 44217) with the chain holding tool (J-44217-45) into a timing chain link that is close to the timing chain shoe on engine sides. Tighten the wingnuts until the hooks stay in position and the gage blocks sit firmly on the head's edge. Secure the hooks and secure the gage blocks directly on the head edge. The first step includes discarding and removing the exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt while also removing the exhaust camshaft position actuator. The camshaft actuator must be in its advanced position before installing the exhaust camshaft actuator into the timing chain while fixing the marked link to the timing mark on the sprocket. The hex of the camshaft requires a 25 mm wrench for alignment which must engage the alignment pin correctly. Fasten the new exhaust camshaft actuator bolt to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) followed by 135-degree turning using the angle meter (J 45059).
