  • Q: How to replace the steering knuckle on 2008 Chevrolet Colorado?
    A: Firstly, lift and support the vehicle to replace the Steering Knuckle. Take off the tire and wheel assembly and then you should lift up the lower Control Arm with a suitable jack. It is important to lift the brake caliper assembly from the unit without having to dismount the mounting bracket after which it is supported on mechanics wire. If the car has a 4wd section, unscrew the front wheel drive shaft from the Steering Knuckle. Following, disconnect the speed sensor wiring harness from the retaining clips of the upper Control Arm and the frame and disconnect the outer Tie Rod End of the knuckle. Remove the upper Ball Joint and the knuckle and then follow it with the lower Ball Joint. Remove the knuckle from upper and lower Control Arm and pull off the Wheel Hub and bearing assembly from the knuckle. For installation, one should begin by putting the Wheel Hub and bearing assembly on the knuckle and then install lower Control Arm /ball joint into the knuckle. In case the vehicle is equipped with 4wd, place the wheel drive shaft into the knuckle. Following that, insert the upper Control Arm/ball joint in the knuckle and then the outer Tie Rod End. Refasten the speed wire harness into the retaining clips then bolt in the brake caliper mounting bracket. Tighten the wheel drive shaft retaining nut to specifications, remove the support from the lower Control Arm before venturing the installation of the tire and wheel before lowering the vehicle.
