How to replace the engine coolant fan motor on 2008 Chevrolet Equinox?

Disconnect the negative battery cable, keeping hands and tools clear of the electric fan. Remove the fan shroud while holding the blade. With the GE-47827 socket, reverse-turn the drive plate, discard the blade, drill out rivets, and remove the motor. Install the new motor and warmed blade, tighten nuts, verify rotation, reinstall the shroud.
