2008 Chevrolet Equinox Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2008 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: The first step to replace a Fuel Rail assembly requires you to drain the fuel system pressure. First remove the upper Intake Manifold before disconnecting the engine fuel feed pipe at the Fuel Rail along with the main Fuel Injector harness electrical connector as well as the electrical connectors from the Coolant Temperature Sensor and Camshaft Position Sensor and fuel injectors. The Fuel Rail assembly removal process starts by removing all Fuel Rail retaining bolts before removing the Fuel Rail. As part of the injector replacement each o-ring seal attached to the spray tip must be removed from the probes. After following specific guidelines for Fuel Injector replacement proceed with the replacement process. The installation of Fuel Injector nozzles into lower Intake Manifold injector bores requires the use of gm p/n 12345616 (Canadian P/N 993182) lubricant on the o-rings. After satisfying yourself that fuel injectors fully seat inside the Fuel Rail you can install its attaching bolts with torque set to 10 n.m (89 lb in). First reconnect the Fuel Injector electrical harness to the Fuel Rail. Then apply gm p/n 12377900 (Canadian P/N 10953529) lubricant to the Fuel Injector electrical connectors followed by connecting all electrical connectors. Complete the fuel feed pipe installation on the side of the Fuel Rail before installing the upper Intake Manifold. The equipment checks with the negative Battery Cable must follow by inspecting for fuel leaks through turning on the ignition for 2 seconds followed by a 10-second off period then another on cycle to detect leaks.
