• Q: How to Replace a Shift Cable for the Range Selector Lever on 2008 Chevrolet Equinox?

  A: Before beginning the repair of the Shift Cable you must set the parking brake while ensuring the shift control range select lever remains in the park (P) position. The shift control cable needs to be detached from the transmission range selector lever before pressing the Shift Cable retainer clip tabs and pulling out the cable from the Shift Cable bracket. Unfasten the shift control lever knob and center trim bezel as well as console trim plate and right side console trim panel. Remove the Shift Cable by disconnection from the shift control range select lever pin at the same time as depressing the Shift Cable retainer clip tabs before taking out the cable from the shift control. Remove the Shift Cable grommet from the cowl while making note of Shift Cable route before taking the Shift Cable out of the vehicle.
