  A: Start by applying the parking brake followed by disabling the sir system before proceeding with replacement of the shift control cable. Begin replacement by taking out the battery tray while checking that the shift control range select lever points to park (P). The shift control cable needs unfastening from the transaxle range switch lever by using the fascia retainer remover (J 36346). The shift control cable bracket reveals itself after depressing the clip tabs on its retainer. Proceed with removing the shift control lever knob together with center trim bezel and console trim plate and right side console trim panel. Disengage the shift control cable from the shift control range select lever pin through the aid of the fascia retainer remover (J 36346) before removing the shift control cable grommet from the cowl where storage of the cable routing information becomes necessary before completing exterior vehicle removal. Install the shift control cable grommet through the cowl pass-thru hole while having the shift control range select lever in the park position (P). The technician will install the shift control cable to its attachment points at the shift control then at the shift control range select lever pin. Put back the right side console trim panel, console trim plate and center trim bezel followed by the shift control lever knob. The shift control cable needs to connect to the shift control cable bracket where all retaining tabs fully engage before being connected to the transaxle range switch lever.
