The replacement process of the Shift Cable begins with first engaging the parking brake and positioning the shift control range select lever on park (P). It is necessary to disable the supplementary inflatable restraint (SIR) system. First disconnect the shift control cable from the transmission range selector lever after which the user must depress the Shift Cable retainer clip tabs to free the cable from the bracket. The shift-control lever knob, center trim bezel and console trim plate and right side console trim panel require removal. To replace the shift control cable you should start by disconnecting it from the shift control range selector pin. Then push down the retainer clip tabs to extract the cable from the shift control. First detach the shift control cable grommet from the cowl while taking note of its path and then remove the cable from the vehicle. The shift control cable grommet installation requires pushing it through the cowl pass-thru opening when the shift control range select lever remains in park (P). Fasten the shift control cable to the shift control followed by moving the shift control cable onto the shift control range select lever pin. Afterwards replace the right side console panel with its trim parts as well as the center bezel alongside the
Shift Knob. Connect the Shift Cable to the transmission range selector lever and mount the shift control cable to the Shift Cable bracket while making sure the retaining tabs fully receive and hold. Before releasing the parking brake the driver must enable sir system and properly adjust Shift Cable.
