    A: To replace the Timing Chain and sprocket, start by removing the engine front cover. After that, remove the camshaft sprocket bolt, camshaft sprocket, and Timing Chain. Then, nice different of the crankshaft sprocket and the Timing Chain dampener bolts before removing the Timing Chain dampener. For installation, first install the crankshaft sprocket and apply prelube gm p/n 12345501 (Canadian P/N 992704) or an equivalent to the crankshaft sprocket thrust surface. Fasten the Timing Chain dampener and its bolts, locking them at 21 n.m (15 lbs ft). Line up the mark for the crankshaft with the mark that shows on the bottom of the Timing Chain damper. Hold the camshaft sprocket with a Timing Chain hanging down and replace a Timing Chain to a crankshaft gear. Align the timing mark located on the camshaft gear, with the timing mark on the top of the Timing Chain dampener and move the dowel in the camshaft into the dowel hole in the camshaft sprocket. Mount the camshaft sprocket on the camshaft using the mounting bolt and apply engine oil to the crankshaft and camshaft sprocket and tighten the bolt to 140 n.m (103 lb ft). Lastly, you should install the engine front cover.
