2008 Chevrolet Express 3500 Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front disc brake pads on 2008 Chevrolet Express 3500?
A: Check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid before beginning work. Drain fluid only when you have excess above the midway level. Lift your vehicle properly and take off the tire and wheel unit. Test the brake caliper movement before placing heavy mechanic wire or similar support to stop damaging the hydraulic brake hose. Unbolt the caliper from its bracket keeping the brake hydraulic hose connected. Afterward extract the brake pads from this mounting bracket and discard the anti-rattle clips. Test the caliper and examine the mounting bracket. Place new anti-rattle clips on the caliper mounting bracket inner studs first before installing new brake pads the same way they were taken out and reattaching the brake caliper. Replace the tire and wheel afterward you take off the safety stands and let the vehicle down. Press the brake pedal when engine is off for 2/3 of its length several times to allow brake caliper pistons and pads to engage their proper position. If possible turn on the engine while you push and release the brake pedal to 2/3 of its travel many times to seat the pistons and pads. Then refill brake fluid and perform a spinning process on the brake plates.
