How to replace the Air Bag Sensor for Side Impact on 2008 GMC Canyon?

Before you replace the Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor you must disable the SIR system. To access the side impact sensor you need to (1) remove front door trim panel (2) peel the rear part of water deflector away from door. First unfasten the screws which secure the side impact sensor to the door then disconnect the impact sensor's electrical connector. Clear the mounting location for the side impact sensor by wiping away all dirt and grease and other impurities. The new side impact sensor goes onto the door horizontally before connecting the electrical component. Tighten the screws that hold the side impact sensor to 9 N.m (79 lb in) before fully adjusting the water deflector against the door. Reinstall the door trim panel then turn back on the SIR system.
