2008 GMC Envoy Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Body Control Module (BCM) on 2008 GMC Envoy?
A: Set the ignition to off before beginning your work with bcm connectors. Start by taking off the 40-way body wiring extension then proceed with the 32-way tan connector before removing the 24-way gray electrical connector. You should start with the 24-way gray electrical connector then link the 32-way tan connector and end with the 40-way body wiring extension. The bcm can detect problems even when the Ignition Switch is in the off position. Also the system prevents battery drain for courtesy lights but does not find faults with inputs that the bcm does not control. Scan mode power down now enables you to detect current usage on all possible circuits through the diagnostic tool. Keep away from body wiring extension contacts and resist opening the bcm housing because the unit requires the entire assembly replacement. Start by removing the ground Battery Cable from its terminal. Gmc envoy xl owners need to take out the left second row seat while trailblazer and gmc envoy owners should configure their left hand second seat into a cargo arrangement. Ensure you have removed the rear electrical center cover by pressing its locking tab and slide the bcm retaining holding mechanism inboard until it extends to 40mm. Disconnect the 40-way extension connector and both 24-way and 32-way electrical connectors from the bcm. Pull out the bcm assembly from the rear electrical center. Place the bcm into the rear electrical center by aligning its slots with the center and pushing down firmly. Secure the 40-way body wiring extension to the bcm with its 24-way gray electrical connector and 32-way tan electrical connector. Turn the sliding latch by moving it outward until the locking tab inserts and secures properly. Put the new rear electrical center cover back in place and move the left-hand second seat from passenger to passenger position when possible or put it back in its place for the gmc envoy xl. Reconnect the battery negative end and reprogram the core module whenever replacing it.
