2009 GMC Envoy Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Body Control Module (BCM) on 2009 GMC Envoy?
A: When handling bcm connectors you must keep the Ignition Switch on off mode during all operations. Start with body wiring extension disconnect on the 40-way connector and finish with the gray electrical connector on 24-way. Begin joining components by connecting the gray 24-way electrical connector first then follow with the tan 32-way connector and then the body wiring extension's 40-way port. The bcm checks system status even when power is off but only reports system issues it administers because it lacks functionality on unrelated inputs. Use scan tool power down now mode to find present energy use in each circuit through testing. You should prevent contact with the body wiring extension pins and should not open the bcm housing because it needs replacement as a unit. Start by taking the negative terminal wire off its connection. To replace the bcm on gmc envoy xl models you must remove the left second row seat. Chevrolet trailblazer and gmc envoy users should set the left second seat in cargo configuration. Push and hold the locking tab on the rear electrical center cover to release the bcm storage slide which can extend inboard. Pull the bcm out from the rear electrical center after disconnecting all body wiring extensions through the 40-way, 32-way tan, and 24-way gray electrical connections. Match bcm slots to rear electrical center and push bcm into place starting from the bottom. Push the sliding latch outboard until you hear the locking tab lock in place after you run wires from 24-way gray and 32-way tan electrical connectors and 40-way body wiring extension to the bcm. Put back the rear electrical center panel and place left-hand second-row seats to passenger mode when needed. Terminate power to the negative battery terminal then set up as well as configure the bcm (only for replacement units).
