  A: The first step to replace the generator on a v6 engine is disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. Drain the Drive Belt from the generator before using a lift to raise and support the vehicle. First disconnect the electrical connector from the generator and move the protective boot back from the generator output bat terminal as a starting point for work. Begin by removing the generator's bat terminal output nut before disconnecting the positive battery lead from the generator followed by the lower bolts removal procedure. After lowering the vehicle take out the generator upper bolt before moving the generator out of the engine. After securing the generator back onto the engine use the upper bolt to make the connection.
