How to replace the alternator (LA3, LY9) on Cadillac CTS?

The generator (LA3 and LY9) requires beginning the procedure by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery followed by intake air resonator removal and drive belt tensioner elimination. The generator must be lifted off the engine after mounting bolts removal for access to both the connector and the bat terminal nut on the generator output. Then disconnect the generator wiring harness connector and shift the protective boot from the generator output bat terminal before removing the generator output bat terminal nut which disconnects the battery positive lead from the generator. Position the new generator next to the wiring harness connector and the battery positive lead before connecting the battery positive lead to the generator. Then install the generator output bat terminal nut while tightening it to 12.5 n.m (111 lb in). First put on the protective boot over the generator output bat terminal. Then attach the wiring harness connector to the generator and set it onto the engine mounting points. You should start by mounting the generator using its bolts while tightening them to 35 n.m (26 lb ft) forces before adding the drive belt tensioner along with the intake air resonator and then reestablish the battery negative cable connection.
