2009 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Power Vacuum Brake Booster (LHD) on 2009 Cadillac CTS?
A: You must begin work on replacing the lhd power vacuum Brake Booster by unplugging the left side instrument panel insulator panel. Keep the Steering Column at an easier angle without taking it away from its connection to the intermediate shaft. Pull the lever to remove the power vacuum Brake Booster Pushrod nut before disconnecting it from the brake pedal pivot. Uninstall the cross vehicle brace and disconnect the brake fluid level indicator electrical system connection. Cut the power vacuum Brake Booster check valve and hose assembly while taking out the master cylinder nuts. Keep the master cylinder in place on its original position without removing brake pipe connections while securing it with heavy mechanics wire. Easily remove the air inlet grille and surge tank while keeping their attached hoses in place. Rephrase the Brake Booster holder j-22805-b while extending its mounting holes and removing material to a span size of 80.00 mm (3.15 in). Secure the master cylinder to the j-22805-b using its mounting nuts. To detach the j-22805-b from its bracket, push the release tab toward the cowl and turn the power vacuum Brake Booster and j-22805-b counterclockwise. Use slight force to move the booster toward you so you can find the Pushrod clip and remove the part by pressing the foam filter against it. Take out the booster unit and whether necessary take out the Pushrod with the dust boot through the interior of the vehicle. Set the vacuum Brake Booster in place first by inserting the Pushrod through any present dust boot. Press the foam filter to reach the Pushrod retaining clip then link it to the booster while sliding the clip into place. Set the booster on the bracket and turn the j-22805-b tool to the right until its locking tab clicks into the bracket flange. Discard the j-22805-b after taking off master cylinder nuts. Install the master cylinder onto the power vacuum Brake Booster with four new nuts torqued to 25 nm. Use some denatured alcohol as a lubricant to connect the pressure valve system. Plug in the brake fluid sensor cable and put back the surge tank with air inlet panel. Put back the cross vehicle brace and attach the Pushrod to the brake pedal pivot while tightening the Pushrod nut to 9 nm (80 lb in). Plug the brake pedal position sensor connector and put back the Steering Column. Also update the brake pedal position sensor reading and add the insulator panel to the left side of the instrument panel.
