2010 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Power Vacuum Brake Booster (LHD) on 2010 Cadillac CTS?
A: Start Brake Booster replacement by unplugging the instrument panel protectant from the left side of the vehicle. Unplug the power brake pedal sensor connector while loosening the booster Pushrod nut. Pull the Pushrod off its connection at both ends and take out the cross vehicle brace on equipped models. Detach both electrical wires from the brake fluid sensor unit plus the hose that links to the power vacuum Brake Booster check valve. Fix the master cylinder in place without disconnecting fittings by loosening nuts and placing it aside using heavy mechanics wire. Take the surge tank out from its air inlet grill panel but keep connected hoses stable. Reshape the j-22805-b - Brake Booster holder by creating wider mounting openings to match the separation of the master cylinder mounting studs. Install the new holder on the master cylinder studs and tighten it with its original nuts. Press the brake locking tab using a flat tool and turn the holder and booster counterclockwise to unhook the booster from its bracket. Take the booster forward out of position to reach the Pushrod retaining clip while releasing and detaching the Pushrod from the booster. Disconnect the booster from your vehicle and if needed you must take out the Pushrod through the dust boot from inside the car. Put the Pushrod through the dust boot (if removed earlier) then fit in the vacuum Brake Booster. Press the foam filter to open the retaining space and connect the Pushrod into the booster before securing it with the retaining clip. Make the booster fit onto the bracket and turn the j-22805-b - Brake Booster holder clockwise to lock the tab into the bracket flange position. Install the master cylinder to the booster and use new nuts tightened to 25 nm (18 lb ft). Afterward remove the holder and throw away the master cylinder nuts. Apply denatured alcohol sparingly on check valve and hose components when joining them together. Connect the brake fluid sensor electrical link while you put back the air intake frame cover and surge tank. Put back the cross vehicle brace and link the Pushrod to the brake pedal base; tighten the rod nut to 9 nm (80 lb in). Reactivate the brake pedal position sensor electrical connector and partake in a sensor reset before reinstalling the insulator panel left side.
