2009 Cadillac DTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the engine coolant fan shroud on 2009 Cadillac DTS?
A: The first step to replace the engine coolant Fan Shroud includes disconnecting the battery negative cable. First disconnect the condenser with the upper tie bar while draining the cooling system. The next step includes removing the front air deflector along with the engine oil cooler pipe retaining bolts from the Fan Shroud when it exists. The technician should lower the vehicle and apply j 38185 to relocate the Radiator inlet hose clamp before unfastening the Radiator inlet hose. Start by removing all bolts that restrain the transmission oil cooler pipe within the Fan Shroud while also disconnecting the transmission lines from the Radiator. Pull off the wiring harness electrical connectors from cooling fan motors while also taking off the clips which fasten the harness to Fan Shroud. Hold the electric cooling fan mounting bolts while removing them because the lower points of both the cooling fan assembly and Radiator need protection from damage. You must position the fan assembly towards left before pulling upwards from the right side before advancing it to the right side to complete removal. Position the cooling fan assembly behind the Radiator before installing it in the proper mounting tabs while tightening electric cooling fan mounting bolts to 6 nm (53 lb in). Secure the wiring harness electrical connectors to both cooling fan motors and reattach the wiring harness retaining clips to the Fan Shroud. Push the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe backward until it feels secure through the Radiator quick connect fitting which locks into place. Afterward, latch a plastic cap on the assembly. Tighten installation bolts for the transmission oil cooler pipe which need to be mounted on the Fan Shroud to 6 nm (53 lb in). Next, install the Radiator inlet hose. The technician should apply j 38185 to relocate the Radiator inlet hose clamp followed by car lift procedures and proper torqueing of engine oil cooler pipe retaining bolts to 6 nm (53 lb in). Start by installing the front air deflector then lower the vehicle before you place the condenser and upper tie bar. Then add the cooling system fluids followed by negative Battery Cable connection before checking the engine oil quantity.
