• Q: How to replace the Hood Cable for the Primary Latch Release on 2009 Cadillac SRX?

  A: To change the hood primary latch cable first unlock the hood and take out Hood Latch. Break the hook release cable from the Hood Latch and attach a piece of string to the cable to enable feeding it through the engine compartment. Next remove the three fasteners securing the hood release handle to the vehicle and disconnect the hood release cable from the handle. Take out the hood release cable in the vehicle and remove grommet from wheel opening. For installation, move the string to one end of the new hood release cable and route them into the passenger compartment, then pull off the string. Let the grommet sit in the wheel opening and secure the hood release cable to the hood release handle. Mount the three fasteners to fasten the handle to the vehicle, with a tightening 2 nm (18 lb in). Pull the string and pull the hood release cable out from the engine compartment; pull the string out, and connect the hood release cable with the Hood Latch before putting the Hood Latch back on. Finally, close the hood.
