2009 Cadillac XLR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve on 2009 Cadillac XLR?
A: The first task to replace the air conditioning Evaporator thermal expansion valve requires refrigerant recovery from the a/c system. Following the removal of the rear Evaporator line assembly the technologist should disconnect the txv from its Evaporator connection before taking out txv mounting bolts to eliminate the Evaporator device from the vehicle. The Evaporator core requires new seal washers which should be discarded before applying tape or discarding the entire core cap. To install the parts, remove tape or cap from the Evaporator core before adding new washers for sealing. Install the txv onto the Evaporator core while tightening its mounting bolts to 7 nm (62 lb in). Reinstall the rear Evaporator line assembly followed by evacuation then recharging of the a/c system. Complete the component fitting leak testing process by using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
