• Q: How to replace the Rear A/C Hose on 2009 Cadillac XLR?

  A: The first step to replace the air conditioning evaporator rear tube requires refrigerant recovery from the a/c system. The first step involves both battery removal alongside the Intake Manifold extraction. The procedure starts with disconnecting the front evaporator inlet line from its body retaining clip through a removal of the refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector as well as the a/c tube connectors from the evaporator rear line assembly. Provide protection from contamination by capping or taping all exposed a/c components during this step. Disconnect and remove the evaporator front inlet line from the rear assembly while discarding the o-rings and creating caps from the same lines as tape. Before removing the heater pipe bracket retaining nut and the txv block fitting nut and rear evaporator line assembly from the vehicle staff must disconnect the evaporator rear line assembly from its txv and retainer bracket. Cap or tape the txv. In case of changing the evaporator rear line assembly, seal with the correct pag oil volume before installation. New seal washers should be installed to the evaporator rear line assembly before connecting it to the vehicle while securing the retainer bracket and the txv with a txv block fitting nut torque set to 20 nm (15 lb ft) and a heater pipe bracket retaining nut torque set to 10 nm (7 lb ft). First disconnect the caps or tape from the front evaporator line and a/c compressor line before adding new o-rings to the rear evaporator line assembly. Next, connect the a/c compressor line and front evaporator line with the evaporator rear line assembly. At this stage connect the a/c tube connectors to the refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector as well as the front evaporator inlet line to its body retaining clip. Reattachment of the Intake Manifold together with the battery must be followed by evacuating and recharging the a/c system before performing j 39400-a to test any component leakages.
