2008 Cadillac XLR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Rear A/C Hose on 2008 Cadillac XLR?
A: The first step to replace the air conditioning evaporator rear tube requires the recovery of refrigerant from the a/c system. Start by removing the battery and following it up with the Intake Manifold removal. Separate the front evaporator inlet line from its body retaining clip as well as its refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connection. Transfer the a/c tube connectors off the evaporator rear line assembly while you cover open a/c parts with tape or caps to stop contamination. The front evaporator inlet line requires separation first from the evaporator rear line assembly before proceeding to separate the a/c compressor line while setting aside the o-rings and using caps or tape for line closure. The rear evaporator line assembly needs removal from the vehicle by first taking out the heater pipe bracket retaining nut from the cowl stud then the txv block fitting nut . Following this disconnect the evaporator rear line assembly from the txv and the retainer bracket while discarding the seal washers. The installation of the new evaporator rear line assembly requires the specified pag oil amount to be added directly to the assembly. The installation process begins with applying pag oil to the new evaporator rear line assembly. Next connect the assembly to the retainer bracket and txv before tightening the txv block fitting nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Lastly install the heater pipe bracket retaining nut to 10 n.m (7 lb ft). Improve the front evaporator line and a/c compressor line by removing protective caps or tape then install new o-rings before attaching both lines to the evaporator rear line assembly. Next reconnect the a/c tube connectors and the refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector together with the front evaporator inlet line to its body retaining clip. The procedure for replacing the Intake Manifold and installing the battery includes evacuating and recharging the a/c system through testing with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
