2009 Chevrolet Equinox Brake Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2009 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: Start by removing the underhood electrical center bracket first. To isolate the brake system disconnect the switch and pipes connected to the master cylinder while adding rubber plugs and caps to prevent fluid loss. Cap the exposed brake pipe ends before removing the master cylinder nuts. Take out the master cylinder from its position along with all brake fluid from the reservoir. Use an appropriate tool to remove brake fluid from the master cylinder before you mount it on the Brake Booster. Fasten the master cylinder mounting nuts and adjust them to 25 nm (18 lb ft) tightness. Attach the brake pipe plugs to the master cylinder ends then tighten the fittings to 18 nm torque. Plug the brake fluid indicator switch electrical connector back in and put back the underhood electrical center bracket. Terminate bleeding from the hydraulic brake system after finishing.
