2009 Chevrolet Equinox Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the power vacuum brake booster on 2009 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: First disconnect the brake pipes while unscrewing the master cylinder mounting nuts then take off the underhood electrical center bracket. After this disconnect the surge tank from the coolant surge hose and set the master cylinder aside. Move the master cylinder step by step away from the vacuum booster and put it on the side. Unplug the booster check valve hose and take out the brake pressure modulator and its support bracket. Take out the Brake Booster push rod-to-pedal retaining clip along with the foam washer from the pedal assembly and the Brake Booster mounting nuts. Do this when the foam insulator leaves with the boosters. Direct the Brake Booster toward the vehicle center after separating it from both the dashboard and Brake Pedal bracket. After you install the foam insulator on the vacuum Brake Booster, position it into the vehicle and put on the mounting nuts without securing them. Apply silicone rubber to the booster push rod pivot pin on the Brake Pedal before connecting the push rod and putting a foam washer against the pivot pin with its retaining clip. Push the Brake Booster into position at the front dash and Brake Pedal base before tightening all vacuum booster mounting nuts to 25 nm (18 lb ft). Secure the brake pressure modulator valve parts then place back the vacuum booster check valve and hose assembly. Connect the master cylinder to the booster and join the coolant surge hose and clamp to the surge tank before installing the underhood electrical center bracket. You should perform hydraulic brake system bleeding if needed.
