2008 Chevrolet Equinox Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the power vacuum brake booster on 2008 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: Take apart the underhood electrical bracket before you detach the surge hose from the coolant tank and set it aside. Then remove the master cylinder bracket nuts without disconnecting the brake lines. Take the master cylinder away from the vacuum booster and put it to the side gently. Unplug the vacuum booster check valve and hose from the booster before you take off the brake pressure modulator valve assembly and its support bracket. To start disassembly remove the clip that holds the Brake Booster push rod to the Brake Pedal followed by taking out the foam washer from the Brake Pedal assembly. Then disconnect the Brake Booster mounting nuts while making sure the foam insulator from the mounting surface also comes off with the booster. Move the Brake Booster toward central access by taking it off the dash plate and pedal bracket before extraction. The process begins by putting foam on the vacuum Brake Booster followed by placing the Brake Booster in its vehicle position and fastening the booster mounting nuts loosely. Spray silicone lubricant onto the booster push rod pivot pin before fitting the push rod to it. Add the foam washer to the pin and fasten it with the retaining clip. Set the Brake Booster into its final position in front of the dash while engaged with the Brake Pedal system before tightening all vacuum booster mounting nuts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Put the brake pressure modulator parts into position according to those items. After that attach the vacuum booster check valve and hose to its assembly. Install the master cylinder onto the booster unit before attaching the surge tank hose clamp and coolant pipe at the surge tank end. Also mount the underhood electrical center bracket during this procedure. Make the necessary hydraulic brake system bleed procedures when needed.
