2008 Chevrolet Equinox Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2008 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: Start replacing the front brake hose by lifting the car and keeping it stable before taking out its tire and wheel components. Unclip the wheel speed sensor harness clamps and disconnect the harness from its base. Wipe off all soil from both ends of the brake hose and the brake pipe fitting. Turn off fluid leakage by plugging the ends after disconnection with a back up wrench when separating brake pipe from brake hose. Unclip the brake hose attachment to its bracket then take off the brake hose. Afterward detach the brake caliper free bolt from both components. Remove the brake hose from the caliper body along with the gaskets that may be attached to the brake caliper or hose end. Protect the brake system by sealing its exposed opening points to hold the fluid inside. Peel off brake hose caps first and replace them with new copper brake hose gaskets then fasten the brake hose bolt onto the hose. The front brake hose fitting bolt should go into the brake caliper first and gets tightened to 38 lb ft (52 N.m). The front brake hose bracket retaining bolt joins next, secured at 12 n.m (106 lb in). Reconnect the wheel speed sensor harness using its locking system. Use a back up wrench to connect the brake pipe fitting at the front brake hose and secure it at 18 n.m (13 lb ft). Install the tire and wheel assembly to its place while keeping the brake hose between its retaining clips and bracket. The hose should avoid touching any suspension parts during powerful turns so you need to take out the hose when necessary adjustments become necessary. After completing the work lower the vehicle and run the hydraulic brake system bleed process.
