How to replace the front CV Boot and CV Joint on the inner drive shaft on 2009 Chevrolet Equinox?

Before replacing the front wheel drive shaft inner joint and boot you need to remove the wheel drive shaft from your vehicle. Flatten the wheel drive shaft bar before installing it in a soft-jawed vise. A flat-bladed tool should decouple the boot retaining clamp from the tripod housing boot while side cutters disassemble the boot clamp from the wheel drive shaft boot. Remove the tripod housing from the wheel drive shaft and then separate the retaining clip and tripod spider from the wheel drive shaft. Check the boot from the wheel drive shaft for damage while evaluating its inner components for excessive wear. Assemble first by putting the boot onto the wheel drive shaft before properly installing the tripot spider assembly until it reaches the shoulder. Place the retaining ring within the wheel drive shaft before you spread half the provided grease on the seal and store the rest in the tripod housing. Position the tripod housing onto the wheel drive shaft before applying the boot clamp onto the boot containing the tripod housing . Then place boot clamp onto the boot surrounding the wheel drive . Use the J 35910 - Drive Axle Seal Clamp Pliers to close boot clamp until the gap reads 2.15 mm (0.085 in) then adjust the clamp to achieve 1.9 mm (0.070 in) gap. After the circular motion completes, reinstall the wheel drive shaft back into the vehicle.
