• Q: How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on 2009 Chevrolet Impala?

  A: Before starting valve replacement work make sure the Piston in the working cylinder stands at tdc position to stop the valve from entering the cylinder. Start by unscrewing the Spark Plug while also cleaning the space around the Spark Plug before taking it off. First take off the Spark Plug and then remove the Rocker Arm unit. Fit the Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) on the Spark Plug opening and use compressed air to secure the valve component. Use the valve spring compressor (J 5892-D) and valve spring compressor adapter (EN-47823) to gradually press down the valve spring shaft. Unscrew and remove the valve cap keys then take off the valve cap, valve spring, and Valve Stem Oil Seal. Cover the valve stem with engine oil and drop in the correct black intake oil seal and brown exhaust oil seal before placing the Valve Stem Oil Seal. After adding the valve spring and valve cap put the valve spring compressor (J 5892-D) alongside the valve spring compressor adapter (EN-47823) to apply compression. Place the valve cap keys using grease to help install them. Make sure each key sits firmly in its position. Breathe out the compressed air and take the Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) out of the Spark Plug port. Reinsert the rocker component then put the Spark Plug back into position.
