How to replace the Automatic Transmission Shifter lever on 2009 GMC Canyon?

The first procedure to replace an automatic transmission shift lever requires the disabling of the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. You must pull the shift lever seal upwards along the shift lever by removing it from steering column trim covers. Unfasten the shift lever bolt on the shift lever before pulling out both pieces along with their shift lever seal from the steering column. Transfer any necessary parts. The shift lever installation requires repositioning it together with the shift lever seal onto the steering column while you should place the shift lever bolt by tightening it to 20 nm (15 lb ft).
