• Q: How to replace the Body Control Module (BCM) on 2009 GMC Canyon?

  A: You need to validate the Ignition Switch points to off before beginning bcm module replacement. Start by taking off the right front hinge pillar trim panel. Begin the replacement procedure by disconnecting the bcm wiring harness electrical connector from the body then disconnecting the i/p wiring harness electrical connector . You must separate the fastener securing the body wiring harness electrical connector to bcm followed by removing 2 fasteners mounting the bcm to the hinge pillar. Open the integral tab on the bcm so you can extract the component from the hinge pillar while it stays outside your vehicle. Place the bcm into the vehicle before attaching it to the hinge pillar through the integral tab. First install and tighten the two fasteners that hold the bcm while afterward installing the body wiring harness electrical connector fastener to the bcm. Link up the body wiring harness electrical connector and the i/p wiring harness electrical connector to the bcm. Install the right front hinge pillar trim panel as the last step. Follow bcm programming procedures when working with a new installed bcm.
