2009 GMC Canyon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the canister purge valves on 2009 GMC Canyon?
A: Start by elevating the vehicle just enough to gain access to the valve through the wheelhouse before proceeding. Remove the left wheelhouse liner. The installation of a new EVAP canister purge solenoid valve requires users to follow appropriate procedures for disconnecting the EVAP purge hose/pipe from the solenoid valve. The procedure starts by disconnecting the electrical connector from the solenoid valve followed by bolt removal to release the valve from the engine. Then extract the valve from its position. During installation position the new EVAP canister purge solenoid valve to the engine while following instructions for fastener safety. After installing the bolt you need to tighten it to 10 Nm (89 lb in) before reconnecting the electrical connector. Secure the EVAP purge hose/pipe and EVAP purge hose to the solenoid valve through the plastic collar quick connect fitting technique. Lower the vehicle and then reinstall the left wheelhouse liner.
