• Q: How to replace the power brake booster on 2009 GMC Savana 1500?

  A: To replace the power Brake Booster, the park brake should be applied and the wheels blocked first. Do not remove the brake pipes, be able to remove the master cylinder and support it with heavy mechanics wire or equivalent. De-pair the Brake Booster inlet hose fitting and check the state of the o-ring seal, changing it if required. Secondly, make sure that you disconnect the power Brake Booster outlet hose fitting and check out the o-ring seal of the same also. Torque the bolt holding the power Brake Booster Pushrod retaining clip in place and remove the clip. Separate the stop lamp switch electric connector, disconnect the power Brake Booster Pushrod, and separate the stop lamp switch. Take off the power Brake Booster nuts and the power Brake Booster, gasket, and inspect the gasket for any damage, and replace it if needed. First installation is the new power Brake Booster gasket then power Brake Booster. Put the power Brake Booster nuts and tighten them at 36 nm (27 lb ft). Use gm p/n 12345994 (Canadian P/N 10953501) as a thin coat of high temperature lubricant on the brake pedal pivot pin. You should install the stoplamp switch installing and hooking the power Brake Booster Pushrod, and then connect the stoplamp switch with an electric connector. Install the power Brake Booster Pushrod retaining clip and turn it 360° to make sure it is fully engaged at the brake pedal pivot bar groove. Hook the power Brake Booster Pushrod retaining clip bolt into the fixture and tighten it to 10 nm (89 lb in). Make sure that the o-ring seals are correctly placed on the each of the power Brake Booster inlet and outlet hose fittings and then fit the power Brake Booster outlet hose fitting and tighten to 33 nm (24 lb ft) including the inlet hose fitting properly to the same torque. Last but not least, bolt in the master cylinder and bleed the power steering system.
