GMC Savana 1500 Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the hydraulic brake booster on GMC Savana 1500?
A: The first step to replace the hydraulic Brake Booster involves draining the power steering fluid. Detach both the Brake Master Cylinder and the power steering fluid reservoir hose at the hydraulic power Brake Booster. To proceed with the replacement disconnect the inlet hose and outlet hose from the power Brake Booster then remove both the power Brake Booster pushrod and its retaining nuts. Remove the power Brake Booster unit from the vehicle while also extracting the power Brake Booster gasket. After installing the power Brake Booster gasket you should reposition the power Brake Booster inside the vehicle. Use a torque wrench to secure retaining nuts to the power Brake Booster with 36 nm (27 ft. Lbs.) torque. First install the power Brake Booster pushrod before attaching the inlet hose to the power Brake Booster and tightening the outlet hose fitting to 36 nm (27 ft. Lbs.). Secure the outlet hose to the power Brake Booster while tightening the fitting to 36 nm (27 ft. Lbs.). Verify fitment of the power steering fluid reservoir hose to the power Brake Booster with new clamps before tightening the fitting to a torque of 36 nm (27 ft. Lbs.). The Brake Master Cylinder installation should be followed by bleeding the power steering system.
