2009 GMC Yukon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear crankshaft seal on 2009 GMC Yukon?
A: You must remove the automatic transmission flexplate before changing the crankshaft rear oil seal. The current crankshaft rear oil seal (141) should be discarded next. When installing the oil seal reverse-lip design check that the part number faces outward. First step is to check the seal for its part number markings. Position the Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Installer (J 41479) cone and its bolts onto the crankshaft's rear portion then tighten the bolts until they are snug but avoid excessive force. Implicitly position the rear oil seal onto the tapered cone before driving it into the rear seal bore while keeping the part number markings directed toward the external side of the engine. Deepen the J 41479 threaded rod through the tapered cone until the rod touches the oil seal before placing the oil seal inside the tool alignment. Drive the tool handle in a clockwise motion until the seal reaches full depth within the rear cover bore. Use the Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Installer (J 41479) to reinstall the automatic transmission flexplate.
