The Transfer Case must be removed before starting the input shaft seal replacement. Building a hole in the seal with a sharp punch might become essential before successfully using the output shaft oil seal remover (J 36825). Once you have put on the bearing adapter (J 23907) of the slide hammer you should use it together with the output shaft oil seal remover (J 36825) to take out the input seal. First install the new input shaft seal with the front output shaft seal installer (J 42738) before you put back the Transfer Case.
