2010 Buick LaCrosse Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the power vacuum brake booster on 2010 Buick LaCrosse?
A: After shutting off the engine apply the brake several times to exhaust the vacuum reserve before replacing the power vacuum brake booster system. Store the radiator surge tank in its place without draining fluid or disconnecting the hoses. Detach the brake pedal sensor connector first and remove the pushrod retainer locking mechanism using the brake pedal. Start with disconnecting the power brake booster vacuum sensor electrical connector. Then release the vacuum pipe from the holder behind the dashboard panel before removing the pipe and sensor assembly. Take out the master cylinder's nuts while keeping it upright and retaining the brake hoses until their examination later. Check if the O-ring around the master cylinder needs replacement before proceeding. Take off the power vacuum brake booster bolts fully and extract the unit while checking the gasket condition for replacements. Position the booster gasket first then install the booster piece and avoid excessive tightening of bolts. Tighten only to 19 Nm (14 lb ft). Secure the master cylinder using brand new nuts then snug them to 50 Nm (37 lb ft) torque. Reconnect the electric wires for the level sensor and vacuum sensor for the brake booster. Use denatured alcohol on the dash panel before fastening the vacuum rear pipe to its retainer part. Attach both vacuum pressure components to the booster assembly. Put the new brake pushrod retainer into place only when you can see it completely rest in the brake pedal arm. Plug in the brake pedal position sensor electrical connection then adjust the sensor for proper operation.
