When rejoining segmented brake pipes replace them with identical double-walled steel brake pipe using the standard fittings in their original style. Use the J-45405 pipe cutter to cut the brake pipe exactly to your measurement then discard the sectioned pipe and pick the right brake pipe and tube nuts size. Use the J-45405 coating stripper to take off nylon from the flaring end and keep metal surface damage away. Also use kit components to chamfer both pipe openings. Set up the die then clean both the J-45405 and brake pipe before using the tool to flare the pipe. Fix the ready pipe inside the dies while tightening the clamp. Shape the flare using the forming mandrel then smooth it with finishing cone. Check if the flare matches the required size: 6.74-7.10 mm (0.265-0.279 in) for 4.76 mm (3/16 in), 8.57-9.27 mm (0.344-0.358 in) for 6.35 mm (1/4 in), and 10.42-10.79 mm (0.410-0.425 in) for 7.94 mm (5/16 in) pipe diameter. Deform the new pipe using a brake pipe bending tool while keeping its end 19 mm (3/4 in) away from mobile parts. Install the pipe system with suitable unions when finished. Fasten the brake pipe into its retainers if it has been disconnected. Then bleed the hydraulic brakes before checking the flared ends for leaks under engine power.
