2010 Buick LaCrosse Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front disc brake pads on 2010 Buick LaCrosse?
A: Check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid before pad replacement. You need not refill if the fluid level matches the minimum-mark position but you must add or remove fluid to reach this level when the fluid level is higher. Lift and stabilize the vehicle before taking off both tire and wheel pieces. Wrap a big c-clamp across the brake caliper body onto the outer Brake Pad and push the Brake Caliper Piston all the way to the brake caliper housing using the c-clamp. Use hand tools alone to remove guide pin bolts but hold the caliper guide pin with an open-end wrench to keep it away from contact with the brake caliper during installation. Install mechanic wire within the brake caliper assembly to keep the hydraulic brake hose from harm while it stands separated. Pick up the brake caliper while noting the wear sensor position and take out the inner and outer brake pads plus upper and lower pad springs. For new brake pads you should replace all springs and put the inner Brake Pad first followed by the outer Brake Pad before putting back the brake caliper into position. Secure the brake caliper using a back up wrench while installing the lower brake caliper guide pin bolt and tightening to 27 nm torque value (20 lb ft). Put on the tire and wheel device. While keeping the engine off apply the brake pedal to its third using slow increments before releasing. Repeat until you achieve a solid brake reaction. Add reservoir fluid before using a Brake Pad burnisher on the metal components.
