2010 Buick LaCrosse Brake Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2010 Buick LaCrosse?
A: Switch off engine power to operate the Brake Pedal multiple times until it feels solid while using up the power vacuum Brake Booster's vacuum pressure reserve. Take off the intake manifold cover only when needed. Securely place a suitable removal tool in the master cylinder reservoir to drain and dispose the brake fluid. Putting the radiator surge tank nearby you can safely remove it without touching coolant or disconnecting the hoses. Unplug the electrical connection for the brake fluid level indicator switch and detach the primary brake pipe master cylinder completion while capping it to maintain the brake fluid system. Afterwards disconnect and cap the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting. Lift out the master cylinder while removing its nuts then install the new master cylinder including the o-ring seal. During new master cylinder installation perform the bench bleed procedure to put the o-ring seal perfectly in its groove without deformation. Place the master cylinder with its o-ring seal inside the installation area before tightening the master cylinder nuts to 50 nm (37 lb ft). Install the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting then bolt it with 18 nm torque followed by fitting the secondary brake pipe using the same torque setting. Plug back in the brake fluid level indicator switch wires before placing the radiator surge tank back. End the hydraulic brake process before reinstalling the intake manifold cover.
