- Q: How to replace the starter motor on a V6 engine on 2010 Buick LaCrosse?A: To replace the Starter motor of v6 then first turn off the ignition and remove battery negative cable. Remove the heat shield of the Starter and then, lift and support the vehicle. Next, disengage the knock sensor connector, then take off the positive nut from the battery and the engine harness from the Starter Solenoid. Afterwards, unscrew the bolts holding the Starter motor and put the Starter motor off. For the installation, first, you have to place the Starter motor back to its position and make sure that you install Starter motor mounting bolts and only tighten them to 58 nm (43 lb ft). Make sure you reconnect the battery positive cable and engine harness connector to the Starter and tighten nut to 25 nm (18 lb ft). Mount the engine harness connector to the Starter Solenoid, and reconnect the Starter heat shield, fastening the bolt to 7 nm (62 lb in) before connecting the knock sensor connector.
