2010 Buick Lucerne Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly on 2010 Buick Lucerne?
A: The first step for replacing the fuel injection Fuel Rail assembly includes writing down the 8-digit identification number stamped on the Fuel Rail as a reference point for service or part requirements. Vehicle maintenance requires correct Fuel Injector O-Ring placement to prevent both fire incidents and person harm from leaking fuel; install the black o-ring above the brown one. Seal all openings of fittings before plugging them in order to protect the fuel system from dust entry. Remove the fuel feed pipe from the Fuel Rail before disconnecting electrical components. Proceed to remove the upper Intake Manifold followed by extracting the Fuel Injector harness connector bracket bolt from the Intake Manifold and separating the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector and the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector. Begin by removing the Fuel Rail bolts and proceeding to uninstall the Fuel Rail while also extracting its o-ring from the spray tip end of each injector before discarding any damaged o-rings. It is important to carefully pull off the fuel injectors without damaging the electrical connector pins or nozzles while keeping the injectors out of any cleaning solution. The procedure requires removal of the Fuel Injector retaining clip combined with the Fuel Injector from the Fuel Rail and also the upper o-ring. Replace fuel injectors with the correct part number while applying engine oil to new o-rings before installing the upper o-ring followed by the Fuel Injector onto the Fuel Rail and securing it with any required retaining clip. When performing fuel system maintenance plug all ports of the Fuel Rail to block contaminants and refrain from cleaning components with both compressed air and solvent baths. Take all damaged lower injector o-rings to a replacement then lubricate them before inserting the Fuel Rail assembly into the Intake Manifold while slightly tilting it to position the injectors. Secure the Fuel Rail bolts at 10 nm (89 lb in) then connect the cmp sensor electrical connector followed by the ect sensor electrical connector. Attach the Fuel Injector harness connector bracket to the Intake Manifold while tightening its bolt to 8 nm (71 lb in). Place back the upper Intake Manifold along with reattaching electrical connectors and installing the fuel feed pipe to the Fuel Rail. Conclude Battery Cable connection after performing a check for leaks by doing a prescribed ignition switch sequence to inspect for any fluid loss.
