• Q: How to replace the EGR valve on 2010 Cadillac DTS?

  A: You must first remove the fuel injector sight shield if it exists during replacement of the exhaust gas recirculation valve. First disconnect the engine harness electrical connector that connects to the EGR Valve and proceed to remove the egr bracket shield nuts along with the shield itself. Move on to remove both EGR Valve bolts while detaching the EGR Valve and discard the previous EGR Valve Gasket. The egr passageways inside the water pump housing need inspection for debris which should be cleaned when needed. The EGR Valve should be mounted onto a cleaned surface before the new egr gasket application. The EGR Valve bolts should be tightened to 24 nm (18 lb ft) then the egr bracket shield and its nuts require 10 nm (89 lb in) torque. The last step before installing the fuel injector shield is to reattach the engine harness electrical connector to the EGR Valve.
