  A: The beginning step to replace the Secondary Air Injection Check Valve requires the removal of the fuel injector sight shield. Detach the engine harness electric connector which services the secondary air injection (AIR) check valve. Removing the air pipe requires pinching the constant tension clamp before taking out the air pipe from its position on the air check valve. The air check valve installation starts by first removing its exhaust manifold nuts before removing both the check valve bolts then removing the valve itself. The technician discards the exhaust manifold air check valve and cleans both sealing surfaces on the gasket. A new air check valve should be positioned on the exhaust manifold gasket for installation before securing the air check valve. First install the air check valve to exhaust manifold nuts before tightening them to 9 nm (80 lb in) torque specification. Then install the air check valve bolts to match the same torque measurement.
