  Q: How to properly service and replace the Air Inject Check Valve on Cadillac DTS?

  The fuel injector sight shield must be removed before you handle the replacement of the Secondary Air Injection Check Valve. Start by disconnecting the engine harness electrical connector that serves the secondary air injection (AIR) check valve. After that, clamp down the constant tension clamp and extract the air pipe from the air check valve. Begin by taking out the exhaust manifold nuts from the air check valve and removing the bolts from the check valve. Then extract the check valve from its position. The exhaust manifold gasket of the air check valve needs to be discarded while both the exhaust manifold gasket and the air check valve to exhaust manifold should receive cleaning on their gasket sealing surfaces. The new air check valve needs to be positioned on the exhaust manifold gasket before completing the installation of the air check valve. Screw the air check valve to exhaust manifold nuts until they achieve 9 n.m (80 lb in). Afterward install the air check valve bolts with the same torque specification. Reconnect the air pipe to the air check valve before connecting the engine harness electrical connector to the check valve and lastly reinstall the fuel injector sight shield.
