  Q: How to properly service and repair the EGR Tube on Cadillac DTS?

  A: You must start the egr pipe replacement by removing the egr pipe bolt situated at the water pump housing. Next step is to lift the vehicle before providing support. Before continuing with the next steps you must remove the egr valve pipe by first loosening its nut at the Exhaust Manifold. Protect the egr valve pipe by inserting it through the Exhaust Manifold before tightening its pipe nut at 60 n.m (44 lb ft). Install the egr valve pipe bolt at the water pump housing before lowering the vehicle and tightening it to 28 n.m (21 lb ft). The pipe connecting the egr valve inlet should be changed when it becomes disconnected from the water pump housing since it features a crush seal design.
