  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2010 Cadillac DTS?
    A: You must first exhaust the fuel system pressure before starting Fuel Rail assembly replacement. The Fuel Rail assembly requires cleaning with gm x-30a or equivalent engine cleaner spray while avoiding liquid soaking during the process. Users need to disconnect the fuel feed pipe quick connect fitting on the Fuel Rail and the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) air tube quick connect fitting on the camshaft cover. Remove the surge tank inlet pipe hose from its positions on both surge tank and engine fitting while unlocking the hose clamps and then remove surge tank inlet pipe nuts and Fuel Rail studs from the inlet pipe. The engine harness electrical connectors should be disconnected from the starter solenoid cable and both front and rear fuel injectors followed by the removal of engine harness clip from Fuel Rail stud then setting the harness aside. First remove the Fuel Rail bracket retainer nut then the Fuel Rail studs before removing the Fuel Rail along with discarding the o-ring seals which were attached to the spray tip end of each Fuel Injector. To install the Fuel Rail with new o-ring seals place the fuel injectors first followed by inserting new lower o-ring seals which need to be lubricated with engine oil before rail assembly. Afterwards tighten Fuel Rail mounts to 10 nm (89 lb in) torque. Tighten the Fuel Rail studs at 10 nm torque rate and the Fuel Rail bracket retainer nut reaches the same torque value. Lay the harness over the engine before connecting the engine harness clip to the Fuel Rail stud then fasten the engine harness electrical connectors to the rear and front fuel injectors as well as the starter solenoid cable. The Fuel Rail studs accept the surge tank inlet pipe which gets secured using inlet pipe nuts. The surge tank inlet pipe hose must be attached to the engine fitting and surge tank while hose clamps should sit correctly in place. Plug the pcv air tube quick connect fitting at the camshaft cover while connecting the fuel feed pipe quick connect fitting at the Fuel Rail. You need to connect the negative Battery Cable while inspecting for fuel leaks by turning on the ignition for two seconds then waiting ten seconds with the ignition off before a final on check for leaks before placing the Fuel Injector sight shield.
